Botox and filler are the treatments international patients book most often on a short trip to Seoul, and the questions are consistent: how much is jaw Botox and how long does it last, is the product genuine, can you make filler look natural, and can you dissolve filler that was done elsewhere. This page answers those in order, with the sources behind each answer.

Overview: two different tools

Botulinum toxin relaxes a muscle for a few months. It softens expression lines (forehead, frown lines, crow's feet), slims a bulky jaw muscle (masseter), and can be placed very superficially for pores and oil control (skin Botox). The original product, Botox Cosmetic (onabotulinumtoxinA), is licensed by the FDA (FDA BLA 103000); several Korean-made toxins are also approved and widely used in Korea.

Hyaluronic acid (HA) filler adds volume or structure: lips, under-eye hollows, nose bridge, chin, jawline, cheeks, temples, smile lines. HA fillers can be reversed with an enzyme, hyaluronidase. Masseter (jaw) Botox for face slimming

A wide lower face is often muscle rather than bone or fat. Injecting toxin into the masseter reduces the muscle's bulk over the following weeks. A 2026 systematic review and meta-analysis in the Journal of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery confirms the effect on masseter hypertrophy (Machado et al., 2026), and a 2025 prospective study measured both the reduction in facial volume and the temporary change in chewing function after injection (Sawadsopanont et al., 2025).

What to expect: slimming begins at around two to four weeks, is most visible at about three months, and is commonly maintained for four to six months. With repeated sessions the interval often lengthens because the muscle stays smaller. Chewing hard food can feel weaker for a few weeks. Masseter Botox is not the right plan when the width comes from bone or from fat under the jaw, or when the cheeks are already hollow, because slimming the muscle can make hollowness more obvious; this is checked at the consultation.

Skin Botox (intradermal toxin)

Skin Botox, also called meso Botox, places diluted toxin very superficially across the face rather than into a muscle. It is used for pores, oiliness and fine surface lines, and does not freeze expression when placed correctly. A 2026 randomized split-face trial in the Aesthetic Surgery Journal evaluated intradermal botulinum toxin for facial rejuvenation (Alzayadneh et al., 2026). The effect is subtle and typically lasts two to three months.

Genuine brands: what to ask

Counterfeit or unlicensed toxin is a real safety issue worldwide; a 2025 case series in the Aesthetic Surgery Journal documented botulism after illegal cosmetic injections (Qiu et al., 2025). In a licensed Korean clinic the practical questions are simple: which product will be used, who is injecting, and how many units. You are welcome to ask us all three before treatment. A quote that is far below what other clinics charge is a reason to ask those questions, not proof of a problem.

Natural-looking filler without overfilling

The goal is that nobody can tell you had filler. That comes from choosing the right plane and product for each area and from using less than the face can technically hold. Asian faces have their own proportions and priorities, which is why there is a dedicated expert consensus on injectable strategies for the Asian face (Wu, Liew et al., 2020). At EU:GENES, cheeks and chin are usually built gradually, the under-eye area is treated with very small amounts, and we would rather add a little at a follow-up than correct overfilling.

Filler carries a small but serious risk: injection into or around a blood vessel. It is the reason filler should be injected by a physician who knows facial anatomy and who has hyaluronidase on hand. We explain this risk before treatment.

Filler dissolving with hyaluronidase

Hyaluronidase is an enzyme that breaks down hyaluronic acid. It is used to correct overfilled or migrated HA filler and, urgently, to treat a vascular complication. A 2026 paper in JPRAS Open discusses how filler reversal actually works and why "dissolving" is an oversimplification (Ravindran et al., 2026); ultrasound-guided hyaluronidase for vascular events is described in the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology (Schelke et al., 2026).

Two facts matter if you are planning to have filler removed in Seoul. First, only hyaluronic acid fillers respond. Collagen stimulators such as Sculptra, Juvelook, Radiesse or Ellansé cannot be dissolved this way. Second, more than one session is sometimes needed, and a small allergy risk means we ask about previous reactions. Bring any record of the product and amount that was injected; if you do not have one, we assess the area at the consultation.

What changes the price of Botox and filler in Korea

  1. Units or area. Korean clinics often quote toxin per area rather than per unit. Ask how many units an "area" includes, especially for the masseter, where the dose varies with muscle size.

  2. Brand of toxin. Imported and Korean-made toxins are priced differently. Ask which product the quote refers to.

  3. Filler product and amount. Filler is priced per syringe (usually 1 cc), and the product differs by area. The number of syringes is set at the consultation.

  4. Who injects. Physician injection after an in-person consultation is priced differently from delegated treatment.

  5. Dissolving is separate. Hyaluronidase treatment is quoted on its own, and refilling afterwards is a separate plan.

Aftercare

  • Botox: avoid alcohol, sauna and facial massage for two to three days beforehand; stay upright for about four hours afterwards.

  • Filler: do not press or massage the treated area. Mild swelling or a small bruise for a few days is normal.

  • Contact the clinic promptly if you notice increasing pain, blanching or mottled skin after filler.

  • Short visits. Tell us your travel dates when you book so the consultation and treatment can be scheduled together where appropriate. Toxin takes up to two weeks to show its full effect, so the result develops after you are home.

The price depends on the toxin brand and the number of units your muscle needs, which is why clinics quote it differently. Botox in Seoul price: how much per area at a Gangnam clinic, and do they use genuine brands?
